The Rega family's ancestors were farmers who supplied fresh San Marzano tomatoes to the canned tomatoes industries in the Sarnese Nocerino Area. Recognizing the superior quality of these tomatoes, the family decided to start their own tomato manufacturing business, with the San Marzano variety being the first they packed.

According to the Rega family standards, the tomatoes from the Sarnese Nocerino Area are the best due to the unique conditions of the region. The proximity to the foot of Mount Vesuvius, the favorable climate, and the numerous small sources of pure water from the Sarno Valley and the Lavorate basin, all contribute to the extraordinary fertility of the land and the exceptional quality of the San Marzano tomato DOP.

In 1999, the Rega family established a new, modern industrial complex spanning an area of around 30,000 square meters, where they operate with full respect for the environment. The company also maintains a modern laboratory staffed by highly specialized personnel to ensure the highest standards of quality.

The San Marzano tomato DOP was recognized by the European Union in 1996, with only 41 communes in the Campania Region being approved as the sole cultivation areas for this protected origin product. These communes are located in the provinces of Naples, Salerno, and Avellino.
